Summary:Jobkar ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at jobkar.in and our mobile apps, and what rights you have over your own data. Please read it carefully โ using Jobkar means you accept the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you register for an account, create or edit your profile, search for jobs, apply to positions, message an employer, or otherwise interact with our services. We only collect what we genuinely need to run the platform โ nothing is gathered for resale or unrelated advertising purposes.
- Personal Information: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and profile photo.
- Professional Information: Resume, work history, education, skills, and career preferences.
- Account Credentials: Username and encrypted password (we never store passwords in plain text).
- Communication Data: Messages sent to employers or other users through our platform.
- Employer Information: Company name, registration details, job listings, and recruiter contact information, for employers using Jobkar to hire.
We also automatically collect certain technical information when you use Jobkar, including device information, IP address, browser type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns (pages visited, time spent, features used). This helps us keep the platform secure and functioning correctly โ it is not used to build advertising profiles for third parties.
Note on payments: Jobkar does not currently process any payments, and we do not collect card, UPI, or bank details. Should premium, paid features launch in the future, a separate update to this section will explain exactly what billing data is collected, by whom, and how it is secured โ before any such feature goes live.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect strictly to provide, secure, and improve our services:
- Matching you with relevant job opportunities based on your profile and preferences.
- Enabling employers to find, evaluate, and connect with qualified candidates.
- Sending notifications about new jobs, application updates, and platform announcements.
- Operating and improving our recommendation and search features.
- Detecting and preventing fraud, fake job listings, spam, and other abuse of the platform.
- Responding to support requests and resolving disputes between users.
- Complying with applicable legal obligations, court orders, or lawful requests from government authorities.
We will never sell your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes. Your data is used solely to operate and improve your experience on Jobkar, and to help employers and job seekers connect with each other โ which is the entire purpose of the platform.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, we process your personal data only where we have a valid legal basis to do so. In practice, this means one or more of the following applies to any given use of your data:
- Your consent: given when you create an account, apply to a job, or otherwise voluntarily submit information to us.
- Performance of a contract: processing necessary to provide the job-matching and hiring services you signed up for.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to retain or disclose data under Indian law.
- Legitimate use: limited, narrow circumstances recognized under the DPDP Act, such as responding to a medical emergency or a request made voluntarily by you (for example, contacting support).
You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account, though this does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We share your information only in these limited, clearly defined circumstances:
- With Employers: When you apply to a job, your profile and resume are shared with that specific employer only โ not broadcast to every employer on the platform.
- With Job Seekers: If you are an employer, your company name and job listing details are shown to job seekers browsing or searching Jobkar.
- Service Providers: Trusted infrastructure partners who assist in operating our platform (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, error monitoring), bound by confidentiality obligations and permitted to use your data only to provide their service to us.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid request from a government or law enforcement authority, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Jobkar, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, in which case we will ensure the acquiring party remains bound by terms at least as protective as this policy.
Jobkar does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to data brokers or advertising networks.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as it is genuinely needed for the purposes it was collected for:
- Active accounts: retained for as long as your account remains active on Jobkar.
- Deleted accounts: core profile data is deleted or irreversibly anonymized within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where retention is required by law.
- Application history: may be retained for up to 12 months after an application is closed, to allow employers and job seekers to reference past interactions and to help us investigate disputes or fraud.
- Legal and compliance records: retained for the period required under applicable Indian law (for example, records relevant to a legal claim), even after account deletion.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit, secure data storage, regular security reviews, and strict internal access controls. That said, we're direct with you: no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- All passwords are hashed using bcrypt with salting โ we never see or store your raw password.
- Sensitive data is encrypted at rest using AES-256.
- We conduct periodic security reviews and vulnerability checks as the platform grows.
- Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis only.
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and, where required, the relevant Indian authority, in line with our obligations under applicable law.
7. Your Rights & Choices
As a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have meaningful control over your data. Depending on your circumstances, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy or summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations described in Section 5.

Where your personal data is transferred outside India, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to be protected consistently with this policy and applicable Indian law, including through contractual safeguards with our service providers.
